CloudNC unveils an innovative tool that significantly speeds up the CNC machining quoting process, promising increased efficiency and the potential for machine shops to secure more business.
CloudNC Launches CAM Assist Cycle Time Estimator to Revolutionise CNC Machining Quoting Process
In a significant development in the field of manufacturing technology, CloudNC, a prominent player in the sector, has unveiled the CAM Assist Cycle Time Estimator. This innovative tool is designed to expedite the estimation process for CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machining, specifically targeting operations involving 3-axis and 3+2 axis parts. By automating traditionally manual and labor-intensive estimation tasks, the Cycle Time Estimator promises to enhance efficiency and reduce bottlenecks in the quotation workflow.
Historically, estimating and quoting for CNC machining jobs has been a complex process requiring expert-level skills and significant manual effort. CloudNC’s latest offering addresses these challenges by automating the estimation for multiple parts simultaneously. Initial assessments suggest that the tool can provide estimates up to 20 times faster than traditional methods, contingent on the complexity of the parts involved.
The Cycle Time Estimator, a new feature integrated into CloudNC’s CAM Assist AI solution, leverages advanced machining algorithms to provide accurate estimates of machining times and tool paths. This integration allows users working with software such as Mastercam or Autodesk Fusion to swiftly generate bulk estimates. These estimates, which cover essential parameters like the number of operations, machining efficiency, and detailed part meta-data, can be seamlessly incorporated into existing workflow systems. This added efficiency is likely to empower machine shops to process more quotes, potentially increasing their capacity to secure new business.
Theo Saville, CEO and co-founder of CloudNC, highlighted the significance of this innovation, stating: “Estimating and quoting for new work is one of the biggest bottlenecks in machining. Our solution accelerates that process while executing it on many parts at once, turning around accurate estimates much faster than is manually possible.”
Users of this advanced tool, like Mark Hyde from FJH Group, have already reported substantial improvements in their operations. According to Hyde, the use of CAM Assist has already reduced quoting times by approximately 70%, delivering precise cycle times and ensuring more competitive quoting, thereby enabling the company to win additional contracts.
Cycle Time Estimator builds on CloudNC’s existing CAM Assist platform by enhancing its capabilities to standardise and improve estimation accuracy. This development is expected to be a game-changer for machine shops that often need agile solutions to bid for and acquire new work effectively.
The CAM Assist Cycle Time Estimator feature is now available to users of Autodesk Fusion and Mastercam who employ CloudNC’s CAM Assist solution. The launch marks a significant step forward in CloudNC’s mission to streamline the CNC machining process, offering enhanced operational efficiency and growth potential for its users in a competitive industry landscape.
