ADNOC plans to construct a private 5G wireless network in the UAE to boost connectivity and productivity across its offshore and onshore sites. The initiative aims to integrate advanced AI solutions and generate significant value over the next five years.
ADNOC is set to build a private 5G wireless network covering an 11,000-square-kilometer area in the UAE. Scheduled for completion next year, the network aims to enhance high-bandwidth connectivity across ADNOC’s offshore and onshore operations. This infrastructure will support the integration of advanced AI solutions at even the company’s most remote facilities.
Among the anticipated benefits are reduced operational costs through automation, improved efficiency, lower emissions, and enhanced staff safety. ADNOC projects that the initiative will generate $1.5 billion in value over its first five years.
The 5G network will facilitate real-time data transmission from sensors installed in over 12,000 wells and pipelines to autonomous control rooms. This capability is expected to enable real-time recommendations that can extend the lifespan of these facilities. Additionally, the investment aims to digitalize wellheads and improve visibility over operations, thus boosting productivity.
