Gastech 2024 in Houston gathered 45,000 attendees to discuss the critical role of innovation and collaboration in the energy sector, featuring key advancements in AI and low-carbon solutions.
Gastech 2024 Spotlight: A Convergence of Innovation and Collaboration in Energy Transition
Last week, Houston played host to Gastech 2024, drawing a staggering 45,000 attendees from 156 countries. The event underscored the increasing attention being paid to climate technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), and low-carbon energy solutions within the energy sector.
The conference’s keynote address was delivered by Chevron CEO Mike Wirth, who emphasised the critical need for innovation and collaboration in the ongoing energy transition. He remarked, “The energy transition requires unprecedented innovation and collaboration […] any viable technology that can move the needle on reduction of emissions should be part of the solution set.” Wirth further highlighted the significance of forming partnerships to reduce investment costs and risks, unlock essential capital, improve efficiency, and accelerate integration.
Among the enterprise technology vendors in attendance, ImpactQA stood out with the announcement of its new generative AI solution, NeX-AI. This innovative tool is designed to significantly enhance testing efficiency for SAP S/4HANA implementations and commodity/energy trading and risk management (C/ETRM) platforms such as Endur, RightAngle, and SAP CTRM. The GenAI-driven solution supports shift-left testing methodologies, encouraging early testing in the development process, and offers functionalities including automated testing scenarios, test data generation, and adaptive test management. These features aim to reduce test creation and execution time by nearly 70 percent.
ImpactQA’s Chief Executive Officer, Jyoti Prasad Bhatt, elaborated on this development, stating, “We were excited to demonstrate how our AI-driven solution can support the SAP CTRM, Endur, and RightAngle implementations and drive operational success.”
This announcement follows a series of industry achievements by ImpactQA, notably its work with Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), one of India’s largest natural gas distributors. IGL, which operates across several Indian cities with an extensive network of 652 CNG stations and millions of residential and commercial connections, had invested in SAP CRM along with other business management tools but faced performance issues.
IGL’s system showed several technical challenges including session limits, server errors, and hardware bottlenecks, leading to delays and inefficiencies. To address these problems, ImpactQA conducted a thorough analysis and performance testing in both QA and production environments. Their team identified system constraints and proposed enhancements such as increased RAM and CPU capacity by 20-50%, better handling of remote function calls (RFC), and optimized back-end query timestamping to reduce SAP CRM impact.
The performance improvements after implementing ImpactQA’s recommendations were noteworthy. IGL saw a 60 percent improvement in system efficiency for event handling, a 30 percent increase in customer retention through enhanced cross-sell and upsell opportunities, and a 37 percent reduction in revenue leakage due to the automation of complex billing processes.
The unfolding advancements and implementations exhibited at Gastech 2024, including ImpactQA’s generative AI innovations, underscore the dynamic efforts underway to reshape the energy sector. With technologies that promise efficiency and sustainability, the sector stands at the cusp of a transformative era in energy management and utilisation.
